About Marketgate Dental Practice
Marketgate Dental Practice is one of the longest established dentists in Lancaster dating back to 1844. We have a strong basis on continuing dental care for all members of the family. The practice offers all patients, whether Denplan, Pay as you go or NHS custom made treatments to a high standard of dental care and advice. This involves tried and tested dental techniques through to the latest advances in new materials and their use in modern dentistry. For more advanced treatments E.g. - Implants, we are able to offer referrals to the relevant specialist.
Marketgate Dentists in Lancaster offer a choice of Denplan care and private treatment, which means that we can devote more time to you, for your routine care, preventative care and offering a wider choice of treatments and materials. Children and existing exempt adult patients are still treated under the NHS. We have our own Hygienist and oral Health educator which we offer by referral from the dentist.
Our friendly professional team of dentists and dental nurses are committed to making sure all patients are valued and are always happy to help. We have 4 dentists, a hygienist, an oral health educator, 7 dental nurses and 2 decontamination nurses. Our waiting room provides a relaxed, approachable and friendly atmosphere. We have a well maintained fish tank and a rotating exhibition of local artists work, available to purchase. We have a dedicated children's corner with lots of books and toys and a wide range of Oral Hygiene products which are available to purchase from reception.
In 2010 we have invested in upgrading our cross infection and decontamination facilities to that of "Best Practice", the highest of the two standards currently requested by the department of health under new regulations.
Also in 2010 Mr R W Shimmin and Mrs Irina Tsepelin were accredited with Denplan Excel status. This is an accreditation programme designed to show you, the patient that we are working to the highest standards in clinical governance.
We are currently working towards the BDA Good Practice scheme too. This scheme offers dental practices a way to quality assure their service and to inform patients that they are committed to working to a high standard of good practice set by the professional's national association.
The practice has an ethos of on-going training and continuing professional development for all members of the team. We often arrange time out of our busy clinical schedules to attend courses both local and further a field to keep up to date with new advances in the ever changing and exciting field of dentistry.
Due to limitations of access, the practice premises are not suitable for wheelchairs users.
